ABOUT ME
I’m Chelsea Joy Horton.
Founder and CEO of Healing Embodied.
I do the work I do now because I know exactly what you’re going through - and I know what it’s like on the other side!
I experienced intense Relationship Anxiety for the first 2 years of my relationship with my now husband. It was so distressing that I broke up with him TWICE in that first year of dating. I was constantly obsessing if this was the “right” relationship. I was terrified of commitment and the thought of marriage.
I can now confidently say that I am so incredibly happy to have chosen him. It took lots of healing work to get where I am today. And I would do it all over again because it has been SO worth it!
I have a BA in Counseling and my MA in Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling. I also have my Board Certification in Dance/Movement Therapy, which means I have completed over 3600 hours of supervised clinical work in the mental health field.
I have facilitated hundreds of sessions with those experiencing debilitating anxiety. With thousands of hours working in inpatient and outpatient mental health facilities, I have walked countless people through full-blown panic/anxiety attacks. Anxiety does not scare me and I promise that whatever anxious thoughts you have would not surprise me or be the exception.
Having 10 years of education and personal/professional experience with anxiety, I pride myself in being able to hold supportive and empathic space for you. If your mind is looking for certainty, I can’t promise that. But what I will say is that every client who has fully committed to this process has experienced immense shifts. Many have described this program as life changing. We are here to support you and give you the tools that have helped hundreds of clients, but ultimately the results depend on how ready and willing you are to commit to making a change.
Not at all. What we are working on in this program is shifting YOUR patterns and addressing YOUR fears. This impacts how you will show up in your relationship, whether you’re in one now or in the future.
In this program, you can expect to address a variety of things, such as: trust issues, fears of commitment, abandonment wounds, inner child work, codependent patterns, self trust, sex anxiety, emotional regulation, fears of vulnerability/intimacy, self-compassion, perfectionism, subconscious beliefs, and more. Each session is unique because it is influenced by what YOU bring to the table!
In our work, we operate from a deep understanding of how the brain and nervous system work. We know that anxiety, fear, and emotion is stored in a different part of the brain than language, logic, and reasoning. Cognitive approaches try to use rational tools and techniques to try and change the pattern. But we know that anxiety is not rational and it does not respond to logic (it will always come up with a counter-argument). It’s based in survival. In this program, we are working with the nervous system and body to help you access the part of your brain that gets activated when you’re anxious. This isn’t just symptom management or talking in circles about your anxiety. This is repatterning how your body/mind operates and processes your thoughts and emotions.
